The Nature of Things
Sheela na Gigs
Body of Tree
"The Love Series and Other Stories" exhibition was held in the Good Food Gallery in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare, from the 9th to the end of February 2012.
This exhibition was a collection of romantic and sensuous paintings by Fiona, reflecting the time of St. Valentine's.
The opening night on Thursday, 9th February was accompanied by music played by the world renowned flautist Brian Dunning, and by a selection of love poems read by several of Fiona's close friends.
This body of work is an example of some of the forms, colours and textures that have been informing my painting for many years.
My work can be located in the relationship between nature and paint.
I like to things of it as "New Scaping" as I explore the more abstracted elements of my favourite landscapes: the Bogs around my native Clane, Co. Kildare, and the coast of Hook Head, Co. Wexford.
"Painting is stronger than me; it makes me do what it wants"
- Pablo Picasso
